OHDR Funds 2016 Health Disparities Research Through Pilot Project Awards

The Mayo Clinic Office of Health Disparities Research (OHDR) is pleased to announce four awards for 2016 pilot research projects.

The OHDR provides seed funding annually to Mayo Clinic scientists and clinicians to facilitate research that will lead to extramural funding in health disparities research.  OHDR Congratulates these awardees, and thanks all those who submitted applications for these competitive awards!

  • Minerva Carrasquillo, Ph.D. (Mayo Clinic-Florida):  Identification of Alzheimer's Genetic Risk Variants in African Americans
  • Stephen Kopecky, M.D. (Mayo Clinic - Rochester):  A Pilot Study of the Feasibility of a Virtual World-based Cardiac Rehabilitation Program to Encourage Healthy Lifestyle Choices Among Cardiac Patients
  • Sean Phelan, Ph.D. (Mayo Clinic - Rochester):  The Impact of Parent Weight and Race on Decision-Making in Pediatric Diabetes Care
  • Michael Wilson, M.D. (Mayo Clinic - Rochester):  Disparities in Decision Making and Medical Care at End of Life in the Intensive Care Unit:  A Pilot Study
