Jacksonville Community Research Advisory Board
Mayo Clinic's Office of Health Disparities Research established a Community Research Advisory Board in Jacksonville, Florida, to ensure that ongoing research includes members of ethnic minorities.
Board members include Mayo Clinic staff, community doctors, business leaders, community leaders, laypersons, civic leaders, religious leaders, and faculty from local academic institutions.
The Community Research Advisory Board brings together research and community by reviewing community-based research projects. The Board:
- Ensures research projects are culturally competent
- Identifies methods for recruiting minorities into research studies
- Improves communication between researchers and the community
