Indian Health Service
A partnership between Mayo Clinic and the Indian Health Service aims to facilitate and support the efforts of both entities to reduce cancer and related health burdens in American Indian and Alaska Native communities through research; education and training; and clinical practice.
The Indian Health Service (IHS) is an operating division within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that is responsible for providing medical and public health services to members of federally recognized Tribes and Alaska Natives. IHS is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for Indian people, and its goal is to raise their health status to the highest possible level.
