The Rev. Lee Welkley has pastored on the near north side of Jacksonville for over 30 years, 25 of them as senior pastor of New Life Community Church on West 17th Street. He was a founding member and the second president of Springfield Ecumenical Ministries. He has served for 26 years as president of Berkshire Christian College. Welkley was facilitator for Study Circles, a Dialogue On Race Relations, sponsored by the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission. For 10 years, he was chair of the advisory board of the Outreach Program of the Riverside YMCA. Welkley and his wife, Caroline, serve as urban ministry consultants for their denomination nationwide. He has been a member of Community Research Advisory Board since soon after it was organized in Jacksonville.
